Important Notice Regarding CompFile Record Retention

Posted: 2026-06-02T16:48:37Z

In an effort to improve operational efficiency and system performance, and pursuant to Section 17 of the Workers’ Compensation Act, the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) will begin reducing data maintained within the CompFile system effective July 2, 2026.
As part of this initiative, all decisions and approved settlement contracts older than five years that are not subject to Section 8(a) or 19(h) requirements will be removed from CompFile and transferred to a separate data repository. Beginning July 2, 2026, these records will remain available upon request through wcc.recordrequest@illinois.gov.
Please note that supporting documents, including exhibits, medical reports, and representation agreements, will not be archived and will not be recoverable after removal from CompFile.
The IWCC strongly recommends that attorneys review and retain any applicable files and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with professional responsibility requirements related to client records.
Additional information, including retrieval instructions, eligibility criteria, and guidance related to this archival process, is available on the IWCC CompFile Resources page, here.

Warning: Scammers Impersonating IWCC Officials

Posted: 2026-05-13T18:38:57Z

The IWCC has been made aware of scammers posing as judges, attorneys, or state employees to solicit payments and personal information from people with a workers’ compensation claim.
If you have questions about a workers’ compensation claim or want to confirm whether a communication is legitimate, send us an email at wcc.compfile@illinois.gov or call 312-814-6500.

Signing in to CompFile Now Requires Multifactor Authentication

Posted: 2022-07-21T12:57:25Z

In order to ensure optimal security for your account, CompFile now requires multifactor authentication when you sign in with your username and password. If you already have a CompFile account and have not yet set up multifactor authentication, please contact your law firm administrator. If you are your firm’s law firm administrator, you have received an email with instructions on setting up your account. Once that is complete, you are required to send new invitations to all CompFile users in your firm, including your firm’s attorneys.

Call Sheets - Sequenced 5 Days Prior to the Status Call

Posted: 2022-04-27T12:57:09Z

Sequencing will now occur 5 calendar days prior to the call. A call sheet is “locked” once it is sequenced, and any filings made within 5 days of the call will not be assigned a sequence number.

Please access call sheets via 'Call Sheets Search' on this CompFile portal sign-in page.

Posted: 2021-07-19T14:37:55Z

Please note that the IWCC website link that previously displayed call sheets prior to April 21, 2021 no longer provides access to updated call sheets. To access the call sheets, click the 'Call Sheets Search' button directly above this 'News Alerts' window on this page.

A Note About Expired Invitations

Posted: 2020-02-10T21:50:30Z

Remember: CompFile invitation emails expire 5 calendar days after issuance. If you encounter an "invalid invitation code" error, please ask your Law Firm Administrator to send you a new invitation email. Also, CompFile sends all outbound emails from "WCC.NoReply@illinois.gov." Please coordinate with your I.T. staff to ensure this email address is not blocked. This is sometimes referred to as "whitelisting" an email address.
